A breakfast date for two 🥑🍳 #CafeBoheme

Ohh Chana Masala how I love thee... I was so busy yesterday that I decided to spend the day meal prepping quinoa, wild rice, black beans, and garbanzo beans. Once finished I decided to make a masala for my garbanzo beans. Before I moved to Okinawa I was blessed to spend three full days cooking with an Indian chef in his restaurant. It was a dream. 💖I pressure cooked the garbanzo beans with whole green cardamom, whole cloves, whole black cardamom, whole peppercorns, whole cinnamon stick, turmeric & bay leaf. In the masala there’s cumin seeds, ginger, garlic, jalapeño, crushed red pepper, onions, turmeric, tomato purée, coriander powder, more turmeric, cilantro, and dried fenugreek leaves. So you can say this is a total POWER house dish loaded with many health benefits from all the spices as well as the garbanzo beans. When it comes to masalas I just really use what I have on hand and improvise. I usually keep a fully stocked spice cabinet and then use whatever fresh veggies or legumes I have. Hola chic@s!! GOFRES DE CALABAZA CON SALMON, GAMBITAS Y MOZARELLA. Qué tal lleváis la semana??Yo las he tenido mejores. Hoy os presento un plato que hice la semana que tuve que reintroducir la calabaza. Es bien sencillo de hacer y la mezcla de sabores bastante interesante, el dulzor de la calabaza acompañado del salmón y las gambas y la frescura de la mozarella. Así que aquí tenéis otro plato SINSIN (sin gluten y lactosa pues como he dicho en alguna ocasión, los intolerantes a la lactosa podemos tomar mozarella de leche de buffala) y para la fase de reintroducción de la fructosa. Es un plato que gusta tanto a los sines como al resto, que podéis dejar hecho la noche antes los gofres guardados en un tuper cerrado y al día siguiente preparar el acompañamiento. Yo opte por esta combinación pero podéis acompañarlo de cualquier ingrediente dulce o salado que se os ocurra, pues la calabaza es muy versátil y casa bien con todo. Receta: 1 huevo y 2 claras60 gr de puré de calabaza cocida60 gr de harina de trigo sarraceno60 gr de leche sin lactosa o la que tomeisSe trituran todo junto y se pone en la gofrera. Es un plato bien sencillo que os animo a que probeis en estos días calurosos en los que apetece hacer comidas frugales y descansar la siesta o ir a la playa o piscina. Tuesdays are simply the best. Hot yoga and balling dinner night is what I like to call it. @loveofmangoes and I felt pretty good about rice noods ramen tonight after yoga, nevermind the heat streak we're in the middle of. Mushroom veggie broth, rice noodles, sautéed truffle salt mushrooms and a wee bit of spinach and green onions made up this delish bowl.The problem with Tuesday dinner is that we can never just be happy with one meal idea so we have a list a mile long to complete and it just keeps getting bigger. @loveofmangoes I think it would be very prudent... Tacos. Need I say more? I love me some tacos! Especially on hot summer days! 🌮 🌮 🌮 They get a bad rap, but they don’t have to be bad. In fact, I’ve found it to be a great way to get me littles to eat veggies! Between the lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and whatever else we decide to throw on (we also like pickles-don’t knock it till you’ve tried it 😉) they get at least one serving of veggies. I call that a win! 🌮. 🌮. 🌮 I have a favorite sauce I love to drizzle on top: 1 cup mayonnaise or plain Greek yogurt 1 cup almond milk or regular milk. 3 tomatillos peeled. 1 bunch cilantro. Pinch of salt. 1/2 tsp of garlic and onion powder. . (I don’t actually use measuring spoons I just eye it and adjust to taste remembering that you can always put more in, you can’t take it out). Put everything in a blender and blend until smooth. Our family LOVES this stuff! It tastes great on almost anything! 🌮. 🌮. 🌮. We’ve got 90+ weather for the foreseeable forecast and I’m curious as to what some of your favorite hot day meals are! For my little’s snacks I keep fruit and veggies on hand instead of crackers and prepackaged stuff (most of the time). I usually lean toward apples, bananas, peaches and other “single” serving fruit. However, I always end up finding an apple with three bites taken out of it stuffed somewhere or a half eaten banana left on the table that my kids have now decided is yucky and will no longer eat. It. Drives. Me. Bonkers! I have tried so many, many things......This week inspiration struck and I’m trying something different. I had a so so weekend. I made MOSTLY healthy choices, but let my emotions get the best of me and over indulged in some not so healthy choices. I see nothing wrong with having a treat every now and then, I thinks it’s actually a good thing. The problem lies when I eat things to make my emotions go away (mostly stress for me) it doesn’t work and actually makes things worse. So here’s to keeping on keeping on. I’m going to keep the focus on the good choices I made and move forward. Today’s workout was tough for me, but I did it plus a 25 min toning yoga from yoga with Adrienne. If you’ve ever thought of trying yoga but don’t know where or how to start I HIGHLY recommend her! She’s got something for everyone from beginner to advanced.
